Steel V-frame is a precision fixture used for positioning shaft and pipe workpieces in mechanical processing and testing. It is mainly made of high-strength alloy structural steel (such as 45 steel, 20CrMnTi), forged, quenched and tempered, and precision ground processed. It has high strength, high hardness, and excellent wear resistance, and can maintain positioning accuracy in long-term use.
Its structure is in the shape of a "V" - shaped groove, with precision grinding on both sides of the working surface. The angle of the V-shaped groove is mostly 90 °, 120 ° or 60 °, and the roughness of the groove surface can reach Ra0.4 μ m. The symmetry error of the two sides is controlled within 0.01mm, ensuring accurate centering when placing shaft workpieces. Some steel V-shaped frames are designed with positioning holes or flat surfaces at the bottom, which can be fixed to the workbench with bolts to prevent displacement during workpiece processing or inspection; Some models are equipped with fastening devices that can assist in clamping workpieces and enhance stability.
To improve performance, the steel V-frame needs to undergo quenching treatment with a hardness of HRC55-60, and then undergo low-temperature tempering to eliminate internal stress and avoid deformation during use. When in use, the suitable V-groove angle can be selected according to the diameter of the workpiece. A single V-frame can be used for axis positioning of the workpiece, while two pairs can achieve two-point support for long axis workpieces, ensuring coaxiality during processing or inspection.
Steel V-frames are widely used for workpiece positioning during lathe and grinder processing, as well as for benchmark construction in testing equipment such as roundness meters and dial indicators. They are a key tool for ensuring workpiece accuracy in the production and quality inspection of cylindrical workpieces such as automotive transmission shafts, motor shafts, and hydraulic cylinders.
