Key Features&Design:

Precision-Ground Taper:The gauge itself is a hardened and stabilized steel plug meticulously ground to the exact specified taper angle(e.g.,Morse Taper,Jarno Taper,Brown&Sharpe Taper,or a custom metric taper).Its geometry is the physical embodiment of the ideal,nominal dimension.

Gaging Lines(Marks):The most critical feature is a set of two finely engraved lines or notches on the gauge's surface.These are the"Go"and"No-Go"(or"Not-Go")marks.

The"Go"line represents the basic size and minimum depth of engagement.

The"No-Go"line represents the maximum depth of engagement or the limit of the tolerance zone.

How It Works(Functional Principle):

The inspection process is based on the"feel"and visual alignment of the gauge marks relative to the face of the workpiece.

Cleanliness:The gauge and the internal taper of the part must be impeccably clean.

Application:A thin,even layer of a precision marking compound(like Prussian Blue or Dykem Blue)is lightly applied to the surface of the taper plug gauge.

Insertion("Go"Check):The gauge is gently inserted into the tapered hole without forcing it.It must seat firmly under its own weight or with light hand pressure.

Inspection:

"Go"Criterion:The"Go"line on the gauge should be flush with or within the face of the part.This indicates the taper angle is correct and the depth is at least the minimum requirement.

Witness Marks:The marking compound will be wiped off where contact is made.A perfect fit will show an even,continuous transfer of blue around the entire circumference of the taper and along its length,indicating full,uniform contact.

"No-Go"Criterion:The"No-Go"line must remain clearly visible and outside the face of the part.This indicates the hole is not too deep and the diameter at the large end is within the maximum tolerance.
